Deluxe Finishing Services
Our deluxe finishing services include leather binding with gilded edges, hubbed spines, silk ribbon page markers and intricate multi-color foil stamping and debossing. See the descriptions below to learn the benefits of each.
Cover Manufacturing
Covers, or cases for deluxe books are usually manufactured from genuine cow hide, or pig skin. They might include a Reese Case, 3-piece case, a round back or a square back.
Hub Decoration
Raised horizontal bands on the spine made with built-up layers of cardboard under leather.
Edge Gilding & Staining
Gold edging on pages of bibles and other books. Originally applied as a dust and rubbed into the paper fibers, gilt is now applied to the edges of book blocks with heat and adhesive. Similar decorations included red and green edging, done with ink, and marble edging, an obscure method of swirling several ink colors on top of a vat of hot liquid and carefully touching the book block edges to the mixture.
Onlaying / Gluing
In bookbinding, inlays and onlays are pieces of leather adhered to the cover of a book, usually differing in color, grain, or both from the main covering leather.
Hot Foil Stamping
Foil stamping, also called hot stamping, dry stamping, foil imprinting, or leaf stamping, can be combined with dimensional embossing to make letters and images on business cards, book covers, gift cards, office folders, and a whole host of professional or personal items.
